We receive many requests to reproduce extracts from works by our clients in new works written or edited by other authors. No matter how short the excerpt, whether in a book, newspaper, journal or magazine, exam paper, theatre/concert programme, and especially on websites, it is vital to obtain proper permission for using any copyrighted material. If you wish to apply for a permission please do so in the following ways: By post: Permissions Department Johnson & Alcock Ltd Clerkenwell House 45-47 Clerkenwell Green London EC1R 0HT
By fax: 020 7251 2172
Or by email:

As a general rule, we prefer to only grant permission for a single edition or print run. To speed up the process, please include as much information in your initial request as possible: this includes the format, initial print run, unit cost, number of pages (and number of pages covered by the extract), and the context in which the extract will appear.
Please note that we receive a great many permission requests every month, and although all requests are dealt with as speedily as possible, it is vital to apply as far ahead of your deadline as you can.
