Adrian Stewart is a World War II historian and writer, recognised as a leading authority on naval and aerial warfare. Educated at Rugby School and Caius College, Cambridge, his books include The Battle of Leyte Gulf (1979), Hurricane: The War Exploits of the Fighter Aircraft (1982), Guadalcanal, World War II's Fiercest Naval Campaign (1985), The Underrated Enemy: Britain’s War with Japan, December 1941 - May 1942 (1987), Eighth Army's Greatest Victories (1999), and The Early Battles of Eighth Army (2002). His most recent work is a return to one of his best-loved subjects, They Flew Hurricanes (2006), a definitive history of the iconic WWII fighter plane and the pilots who won it immortality. He lives with his wife near Rugby.
