Geoffrey Wansell is an author and acclaimed biographer, and has been a journalist nearly all of his working life. He was a reporter and feature writer for the Times, a columnist for the Observer, the Sunday Telegraph and the Sunday Express, and currently writes major features for The Daily Mail and the London Evening Standard. He still contributes to many national newspapers and magazines.
He has written a number of acclaimed biographies, including the best-selling Cary Grant: Haunted Idol (1983) and Tycoon: the Life of James Goldsmith (1987). His life of Terence Rattigan (1995) was short-listed for the Whitbread Prize, and he was praised for An Evil Love (1996), written after he obtained exclusive access to 150 hours of murderers Fred and Rose West’s tapes and other documents. He is also the author of four screenplays, and was the executive producer of the feature film When the Whales Came, based on a Michael Morpurgo short story and starring Paul Scofield, Helen Mirren and David Suchet. He is currently working on a number of projects.
