Henry Wilson is an award-winning photographer, and was raised in Nigeria where his first pictures were taken with a Box Brownie camera. Trained at the Chelsea School of Art, his work has appeared in many international magazines and newspapers, among them World of Interiors, Architectural Digest, National Geographic and Time Life, and he has also contributed to Thames and Hudson’s prestigious History of Art series.
His favourite photographic subject is India; he has written and photographed a study of Benares (1985), meticulously prepared over four years, and was commissioned to take location photography in Madhur Jaffrey’s A Taste of India (1985). In addition, he has worked extensively on book jackets, including designs for Anita Desai, Salman Rushdie and Norman Lewis. Since the 1980s he has developed an interest with interiors, contributing to London Living (1997) and London Interiors (2000). His own book, India: Decoration, Interiors, Design (2001), contains a collection of shots taken in northern India, and to date has been published in India, USA, Germany, France and Sweden. His most recent work is India House, published in 2007 by Thames & Hudson.
