One of the most familiar faces of American sport in this country, Mike Carlson has presented Channel Five’s NFL coverage for the past ten seasons, as well as serving as the analyst for BBC’s Super Bowl coverage from 2008 onwards. He’s hosted the NFL on Sky, worked on Super Bowls for Talk Sport radio, covered NFL Europe for Screensport and Sky Sports and has broadcast numerous sports, including baseball, basketball, ice hockey, and poker on the above channels as well as others, including ITV2 and the defunct Superchannel and Showtime.

Mike has written on sports for most of the British papers, www.bbc.co.uk, and the Herald Tribune, and on American Football for www.nfl.com, www.nfluk.com, Pro Football Weekly and the Super Bowl programme. He wrote the text for the Channel Five Guide to Baseball, and, as Michael Carlson, has produced feature articles, reviews, and essays on other topics for The Spectator, TLS, Telegraph, Financial Times and many others. He also writes obituaries for the Guardian, Independent, and Telegraph, and has written books on the film directors Sergio Leone, Clint Eastwood, and Oliver Stone.

Based in the UK for many years now, he is currently working on a UK guide to American Football, entitled Gladiators on a Chessboard, along with a number of other projects.
