From 1990 to 2008 Thomas Blaikie was an English teacher at a leading North London girls’ school, where he outlived three headmistresses. At various times he has also reviewed regularly for The Spectator, the Irish Press, the Birmingham Post and the Yorkshire Post. He is the author of You Look Awfully Like the Queen (2002), a humorous collection of royal anecdotes, Blaikie’s Guide to Modern Manners (2006) and Corgi and Bess (2007) a further book of royal stories, all published by 4th Estate. Blaikie’s Guide to Modern Manners was published by Villard Press in America in 2007 as To the Manner Born: A Most Proper Guide to Modern Civility. The Guide was also published in Romania in 2007 by Editura Runa. He has made numerous television and radio appearances in the UK and USA. His books have all been serialised or featured in national newspapers and numerous other publications all over the world. He has written on manners for the Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph, the Times and the Independent on Sunday.
