Anthony Adolph is a professional genealogist, writer and broadcaster, and has been tracing family and house histories for over twenty years. He was Research Director of the supporting company of the Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies, and now runs his own successful genealogical practice in London. He traces family trees all over the world and has particular interest in heraldry, using DNA for genealogy, surnames and ancient family trees.
His first book, Collins Tracing Your Family History (2004), contributed to the increase in popularity of genealogy in the UK, and has since been re-published in a special promotion with the Times newspaper. His subsequent books include Collins Tracing Your Home’s History (2006) and Full of Soup and Gold: the Life of Henry Jermyn (2006). He has co-presented several genealogy series, including Extraordinary Ancestors on Channel 4, Antiques Ghostshow on Living TV, Discovery Channel’s Ancestor Hunters and Radio 4’s Meet the Descendants. In February 2007 he also co-presented Gene Detectives with Melanie Sykes, a new series on BBC1 which allowed ordinary people to trace their long-lost relatives.
