Chantal Coady is the founder of Rococo Chocolates, with shops on London’s Kings Road and Marylebone High Street. She founded the Campaign for Real Chocolate in 1986, and was the co-founder of The Chocolate Society in 1991. Chantal is regularly called upon for broadcasts and consultancy and has written a number of successful books, including Chocolate: The Food of the Gods (1992), The Chocolate Companion (1995, re-released 2006), winner of the chocolate ‘Oscar’ at the Perugia Chocolate Festival in 1996, and the Real Chocolate (2003). The latter has been adapted into a series of recipe cards, called the Real Chocolate Recipe Cards (2006).
Chantal has been obsessed with chocolate since early childhood, and this passion led to her pioneering the first of the ‘new wave’ chocolate shops in 1983, when scarcely out of Art School. She divides her time between the shops and the chocolate factory in South London, as well as visiting Grenada on a regular basis to work with the Grenada Chocolate Company on the island’s ongoing cocoa regeneration project.
