Fenton, Kate PDF Print E-mail
Born in Manchester and brought up in Cheshire, Kate Fenton now lives on the North York Moors with her husband, actor Ian Carmichael.  While reading PPE at St Hilda’s College, Oxford, Kate supplemented her grant by playing the piano in Blackpool hotels and at the end of the occasional pier. After a spell as a researcher at the House of Commons and eight years at the BBC producing radio features and documentaries, she has written six popular novels.

Kate’s first novel was The Colours of Snow (1990), followed by Dancing to the Pipers (1993), Lions and Liquorice (1995), Balancing on Air (1996), Too Many Godmothers (2000), and Picking Up (2002). In 2004, Lions and Liquorice was published in the United States as Vanity and Vexation: a Novel of Pride and Prejudice, and its clever modern re-telling of the Jane Austen novel has proven a great success in America.
