Christopher Fildes is one of Britain’s most distinguished financial journalists, “the doyen of London’s financial columnists.” For over twenty years he wrote the ‘City and Suburban’ column in The Spectator, and for many years wrote a column on the world’s banking and financial scene for The Daily Telegraph. He was also the founding editor of Euromoney, the journal of the international money and capital markets. In a journalistic career spanning four decades, he has also written for the city pages of The Times and the Daily Mail. He is the only writer to have won the prestigious Wincott Award for financial journalism on two separate occasions, and currently writes a weekly column for the Evening Standard. A collection of his best ‘City and Suburban’ writing was published under the title A City Spectator (2004), with a foreword by Mervyn King, Governor of the Bank of England.
