Francis, Felix PDF Print E-mail

The younger of two sons of Dick and Mary Francis, after seventeen years as a teacher, Felix took on the role of managing his father’s affairs in 1991 – a job he continues to this day. Over the past 40 years he has assisted with the research on many of the Dick Francis novels, in particular Twice Shy (1981), which drew on Felix’s experiences both as a physics teacher and as a marksman. He also contributed greatly on Shattered (2000) and Under Orders (2006), and (at his father’s insistence) was first credited as a full co-author on the cover of Dead Heat (2007). The partnership continues with the US and UK top-five bestseller Silks (2008), and he is currently co-writing the follow-up with his father.

As well as managing one of the world’s most renowned authors, Felix has been a writer in his own right for some time with numerous articles and a short story published in UK newspapers and magazines. He has also led four expeditions to such varied destinations as the Himalayan and Andean mountains, and the jungles of the Amazon basin and Borneo. He is a passionate cricketer and a regional chairman for the Lord’s Taverners, a qualified pilot, and he still enjoys playing golf badly and scuba diving rather better. Felix is based in Oxfordshire but journeys to the Caribbean regularly to work with his father.
